Get ready for the 14th annual Arizona Highland Celtic Festival happening July 16, and 17th, 2011 at Foxglenn Park at 4200 East Butler Ave in Flagstaff Arizona. (See map below for directions)
Starting at 9 am on Saturday and going until 4 pm on Sunday, this Celtic Festival is known county and state wide as one of the most unique festivals in Arizona.
Even before the festivities official begin there are events and activities all week long including piping lectures and music, concerts at Wheeler Park on Wednesday the 13th and on Friday there is a free concert at Heritage Square which also includes a Single Malt Whiskey Tasting around 8pm.
Many events will be happening at the Weatherford Hotel over the weekend. Several of the performers this year will be the following:
And there will be other performers and competitions as well such as bagpipe competitions, Highland Dances, Scottish Athletics, and Tug o' Wars. There will also be events for the children such as the Oatmeal Toss (that sounds messy!) and exploring the world of the croft house living. In addition to exhibits and reenactments, certain groups and associations will be available to talk about all that they offer such as the Celtic Geology Exhibit, Spirits of the Celtic Regions and the local flora and fauna of the areas.
Workshops will be going on all day both days including music, storytelling, Celtic Labyrinths and Whiskey tastings.
